El Monte Union High School District Board of Governors
ESTHELA TORRES DE SIEGRIST Candidate EL MONTE UNION HIGH SCHOOL BOARD OF TRUSTEES--Nov. 5, 2013
"Education is the cornerstone of life!"
Our students must have roots and wings to soar! And our students deserve the best!
"If you think education is expensive...consider with care the cost of ignorance!"
Some of my Recent Activities in Supporting Education:
A. I was instrumental in initiating PASADENA CITY COLLEGE's Satellite CAMPUS in the closed El MONTE/ROSEMEAD ADULT CENTER ON ROSEMEAD BLVD. in Rosemead. This campus officially opened on Oct. 21 and brings in $325,000 per year to our El Monte Union High School District.
B. I recently handed the EMUHSD Board the completed forms for collecting $3,500 in unclaimed property at the State Controller's Office. To date, this brings the total of moneys I brought in to $18,000+.
C. I publicly announced at the EMUHSD Board Meeting the availability of three scholarships; two for high school seniors and beginning college students; one for students in grades 4-12. See my "Scholarship Page" for additional scholarship information.
D. On October 14, 2013, I personally handed El Monte City Schools Superintendent Dr. Maribel Garcia the filled-in forms for the district to collect over $11,500 in funds held in trust by John Chiang, our California State Controller. In five meetings with Mr. Chiang, he repeatedly encouraged me to continue looking for money and property belonging to individuals and public agencies held in trust in the controller's coffers. This, I continue to do as a public service.
E. If elected, I pledge to establish our 113-year-old high school district's first Educational Foundation for fiscal emergencies and scholarships. Arcadia USD's Educational Foundation raised $800,000 last year. PCC's raised $900,000 in three months. Rio Hondo C.C. raises $1million per year.
F. If elected, I pledge to have our 113-year-old high school district set up a web page listing scholarship opportunities and job opportunities for our students and their families.
Yes, we can...and yes, we must!
AND MUCH MORE TO COME!
“Education is the Cornerstone of Life!” “Our Students Deserve the Best!”
Dear Friend and Supporter of Education,
As you well know, election campaigns are very expensive. Seeking campaign donations is a necessity and many candidates, reluctantly, are forced to seek them. In making campaign donations to school board candidates, persons and organizations, just like you, show how much you care about education. The future of our city, state, nation, and world depends on how well we educate our students. "They are our future and “Our Students Deserve the Best.”
As a candidate, I respectfully ask for your donation to my campaign for the El Monte Union High School District Board of Governors. My enclosed ballot statement (which cost me a nonrefundable $2,600 fee) and my website (www.esthela4hs.com) display my background, my campaign pledges, and the reasons I chose to be a candidate in the November 5, 2013 elections for the El Monte Union High School District Board of Governors.
